Season Film Festival is here to lighten up the spring of cinema in Helsinki on 27th–30th of March, 2014! 21 feature films along with five short films are presented in 30 screenings overall.
The festival, held for the second time this year, is once again proud to present some of this year’s most anticipated films before their official release. Season will also introduce some dazzling gems of international cinema that would otherwise remain unseen on Finnish screens. The opening film for the festival is The Lunchbox, directed by Ritesh Batra, which offers romance, humor and a fascinating view on modern life in India.
Iranian-Swedish director Mani Maserrat Agah, whose latest film Us is part of this year’s festival programme, will visit SFF. Us is a powerful portrait of a passionate, yet suffocating relationship between two people imprisoned by their contradictory personalities. The director himself calls his work a horror film about love.
In collaboration with Fashion Film Festival, SFF also brings to the screen a selection of very chic films. The FFF series consists of films focusing on fashion and design and their multifaceted relationship to cinema. Pulpettikino screenings, aimed at kindergarten and lower level secondary school classes, in turn will show Hayao Miyazaki films as a tribute to this anime master’s achievements.
Different female roles and issues are an important theme in SFF. Fe/Male Voice panel discussion will be held on March 27th, concentrating broadly on the matter of women on screen and working for cinema.
Welcome to enjoy quality films!
